A rich, deeply savoury gravy made easy with Kursat’s Caramelised Onion Paste. It brings slow-cooked onion flavour and natural sweetness to a classic gravy in minutes.
Ingredients (Serves 4)
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp plain flour
3 tbsp Kursat’s Caramelised Onion Paste
500ml beef or chicken stock
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
Black pepper to taste
Method
Make the base
Melt the butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for 1–2 minutes, stirring constantly.
Add the onion paste
Stir in the Caramelised Onion Paste and cook for another minute.
Add the stock
Gradually whisk in the stock to prevent lumps. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook for 5–7 minutes until thickened.
Finish
Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and season with black pepper. Add a little more stock if you prefer a thinner gravy.
Serve
Serve hot over roast beef, sausages, mashed potato or a traditional Sunday roast.
